🤝 Claude Code was for devs. Now Anthropic brings the same power to everyone.
Cowork is Claude’s new mode for macOS (research preview) that lets anyone — not just developers — work with Claude as an agent that can actually act on files.
📂 What can Cowork do?
Give it access to a folder on your computer and Claude can:
- Automatically reorganize and rename your downloads
- Create an expense spreadsheet from a pile of screenshots
- Generate a first draft of a report from your scattered notes
📋 How is it different from a regular conversation?

🔌 Integration with connectors and skills:
Cowork can use your existing connectors and has an initial set of skills for creating documents and presentations. Combined with Claude in Chrome, it can complete tasks requiring browser access.

- Claude can’t read or edit anything outside the folder you give it access to
- It asks before taking significant actions
🔍 Explanation in a nutshell
Until now, Claude replied in the chat and you had to copy and paste the result yourself. With Cowork, Claude acts directly: it opens files, edits them, creates new ones, and saves everything — all on its own. It’s like going from asking someone to explain how to do something, to actually asking them to just do it for you.
